Dads & lads club.
In the Autumn Term 2009 SportStart helped Warren Mead Junior School, in Banstead, deliver an innovative and exciting new scheme to help motivate and develop boys' interest in literacy and numeracy through sport. We were happy to spend Saturday mornings running an hour of sport and then an hour of literacy or numeracy activities where fathers and sons worked co-operatively, at least most of the time, to play and learn together!
Floorball.
SportStart has been approached by the Southern Vipers Adult Floorball Club (based in Farnborough) and Farnham Junior Floorball Club to help promote the sport of floorball to children in schools across Surrey and the South-East. Floorball is an exciting and fast-moving sport that can best be described as a cross between field hockey and ice hockey. It is very easy to learn, safe for children to play and is excellent for developing hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, ball control, reflexes, physical fitness and teamwork. We will be introducing floorball to our holiday sports academies and after-school sports clubs so please look out for forthcoming sessions!
