PPA time
SportStart actively supports schools by providing quality P.E. sessions to cover PPA time. These sessions are run by qualified primary teachers and experienced multi-sports coaches who are passionate about working with children in sport. We are committed to delivering exciting, innovative and inspirational lessons that will enable children to learn new skills, improve their physical fitness and gain self-confidence.
Our approach to learning.
We believe that P.E. should be fun. Our sessions give children the opportunity to think creatively, express their ideas and demonstrate their ability. We help children progress by offering assistance when required and challenging them to do something more difficult when they have learnt new skills. We encourage them to work co-operatively and develop their communication and teamwork in small-sided games. At the end of sessions we involve children in reviewing their learning, discussing what they did well and what they could improve, and inviting suggestions as to what they could do next.
Our lesson planning is constantly reviewed to ensure that children are able to progress. Assessments are provided for all children at the end of each term, showing their level achieved against specific skills criteria for games, gymnastics, athletics and dance. We are happy to provide schools with examples of our planning and assessment materials to gain a better understanding of how we work.

We understand that cost is a major factor for schools when looking at their options for PPA cover and our pricing is highly competitive to reflect this. Our PPA cover can be booked for a whole day, morning, afternoon or single lesson throughout an academic year. An added bonus.
In order to provide the best possible service to our schools, we often go that extra bit further. For example, we have introduced specialist coaches with a proven background in a specific sport to come and work with children for a term. We have supplied coaches and dance teachers for particular school events and themed days for free. We have run lunchtime clubs and organised mini-tournaments at no additional cost. We have even covered times in the week outside of contracted hours in an emergency!
